THE DETERMINED VAMPIRE: Niccolo DiConti has faithfully served as leader of Her Majesty’s army for over a millennium, but he’d rather sunbathe in the Sahara than spend another grueling day under his demented queen’s command. Now, three years later and no longer performing opera, he is still a singer in very high demand—but he knows he can’t be too careful about his security. Women still fawn over him too, so it is hard to understand why, when in need of a new aide and publicist to travel and be with him night and day, he would hire a small, average-looking woman who he will later compare to a sparrow.

Laura is surprised the morning after her twenty-sixth birthday party when she is called into the boss’s office and offered the job of accompanying Claudio Roman on his singing engagement—effective immediately. Hesitant at first, she accepts the opportunity and throws herself into it with all the professionalism she can bring. Soon becoming the only one Claudio requests from the agency, her dedication to making sure that Claudio has everything he needs at all times endears her to the singer. This book is a short devotional book with scriptures and notes on those scriptures meant to engage the reader in praise and thanksgiving for God and His promises. Perfect for this season of thanks, but can be used any time of year to help you remember all the things God has done for you and why we should praise Him!

About the author:

In simple language, Pauline Creeden breaks down Biblical stories and applies them to real life in new ways. Her methods of teaching have brought new light to old scriptures. In her fiction, she creates worlds that are both familiar and strange, often pulling the veil between dimensions. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long.

Pauline is a horse trainer from Virginia, but writing is her therapy.

She is the Admin for Spirit Filled Kindle and an administrator for Readers’ Realm. Her articles, reviews, and devotionals have been featured in RUBY FOR WOMEN Magazine, Devotionals for Bloggers, Faith Filled Family Magazine, and Christian Fiction Book Reviews.

One of Pauline’s short stories has won the CCW Short Story contest. Other short stories have been published in Fear & Trembling Magazine, Obsidian River and Avenir Eclectia. The Devil's Child by Judith Ann McDowell

Description:

Young people have been disappearing from their homes in Saint Anthony Parish, Louisiana for years. However, now that both Jonathan and Rafael are dead and thrown into hell there should be no more danger. Except, Lawrence Hindel is not about to forget it was Detectives Hays and Olivier' who helped make this happen.

Now the only focus on Lawrence Hindel's mind is the young son of Jack Olivier' whose fault it is that Jonathan has not been reborn back onto this plane.

Evil will always find a way to extract payment for what it believes is its just due. Especially when that evil lives in the body of a Rougarou.

Destiny's Review:

The Devil's Child was entertaining. I loved the characters and the storyline. What I found to be frustrating for me was the fact that the sex scenes felt thrown together and rushed. There was no build up, just a few quick he did this and she did that type of sex. Overall the book was good and I will more than likely buy the series for my bookshelf.

In this book Lawrence Hindel moves back to town and rebuilds his family home. Jack and Jonathan are detectives and they are also responsible for the death of some of the Hindel family. Because of this, Lawrence is out for revenge.

If you have not read the other books in this series, I recommend that you start there. This is definitely not recommended for persons under the age of 18.

Genesis Queen by Gracen Miller: Cover Reveal and Contest

I discovered Gracen Miller right before the release of her first Road To Hell book, Pandora's Box. I had just happened to stumble upon a blog hop and Gracen Miller's blog was next on the hop...so I clicked on her link to see what her contest was about. I was so impressed by her passion toward her fans and her quickness to respond to them that I saved her page on my favorites. I stalked her on Facebook and became completely addicted to Madison's Life Lessons. MLL is the Prequel in this series but at the time she was putting weekly blog posts up to prepare her fans...or a better term would be "to get her fans pumped up" about the release of Pandora's box.

Genesis Queen Blurb (book 3 Road to Hell series):

Victory is hollow when fate maneuvers one as a pawn.

Madison’s mission is complete. Nix is rescued from Hell and her son safe from his dark destiny. But in the safe harbor of Nix’s love, her demonic husband warns of a murderous plot. Can she trust that it’s the truth and not another scheme to claim her for Hell’s throne?

Sometimes internal struggles can house our biggest demons.

With allies divided and prophecy heralding defeat, Madison gambles on Micah’s tenuous honor to keep their son protected. Torn between her heart’s desires and her dark requirements, Madison worries her hellish fate cannot be avoided. When betrayal comes from an unlikely direction, all their futures may be damned. In the darkest hour of Madison’s life, an undeniable providence will transpire. Who can she trust? And how far will she fall to defeat her foes?

Amid the rubble of defeat will Hell’s Genesis Queen dawn?

About the Author

Gracen is a small town girl who was transplanted to the big city almost ten years ago. She describes herself as a hopeless daydreamer masquerading as a “normal” person in Southern society. When not writing, she’s a full-time basketball/football/guitar mom for her two sons and a devoted wife to her real-life hero-husband. She’s addicted to writing, paranormal romance novels and movies, Alabama football and coffee…addictions are not necessarily in order of priority. She is convinced coffee is nectar from the gods and blending coffee and writing generates the perfect creative merger. Many of her stories are spawned from these coffee highs. Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove

Description:

Twentysomething Kate Davis can't seem to get this grieving-widow thing right. She's supposed to put on a brave face and get on with her life, right? Instead she's camped out on her living room floor, unwashed, unkempt, and unable to sleep-because her husband Kevin keeps talking to her.

Is she losing her mind?

Kate's attempts to find the source of the voice she hears are both humorous and humiliating, as she turns first to an "eclectically spiritual" counselor, then a shrink with a bad toupee, a mean-spirited exorcist, and finally group therapy. There she meets Jack, the warmhearted, unconventional pastor of a ramshackle church, and at last the voice subsides. But when she stumbles upon a secret Kevin was keeping, Kate's fragile hold on the present threatens to implode under the weight of the past . . . and Kevin begins to shout.

Will the voice ever stop? Kate must confront her grief to find the grace to go on, in this tender, quirky story about second chances.

Description:

Four disparate high school seniors come together to compete in their school's battle of the bands. Sharing a love for playing rock and roll, the members name the band "The Stereotypical Freaks" because they feel stereotyped by their classmates - smart kid, geek, star athlete and quiet weirdo… when in fact they know they are much more than those labels that have been placed on them. When one member reveals life altering news, winning the competition takes on more of a meaning to each member. Scared and angry, upset and yet still with a lot of resolve they set out to win one for the good guys… will they?

My Review:

I have to say that I have never picked up a graphic novel until I was asked if I would be interested in reviewing The Stereotypical Freaks.  I'm always willing to try new books so I said yes.  I'm very glad that I did because this one blew me away.

The Stereotypical Freaks is a coming of age story.  In this graphic novel we have four very different types of high school kids with very different backgrounds.  They each come together with their love for music and form a band.  The original intent for the band is to participate in the battle of the bands but as they spend more time together a friendship begins.

This story deals with real life emotions and situations. The author wrote about the hardships of life, crushes and popularity to name a couple. The characters were believable as teenagers but not overly written with teen language. The ending was not expected but tastefully done and I found it very touching.

A young woman who, though she claims it was an accident, has nearly killed him thrice through her lack of grace and manners. It matters not that the minute he sets eyes on her at the Christmas ball, his blood boils with lust. He refuses to allow himself to fall prey to his aunt’s ministrations.

That is, until he is compromised and stuck in an engagement to a girl who claims she'd rather jump from a moving carriage than marry him. Funny thing that, for the very minute she says no, he finds his heart very much wants to say yes. Checkmate by R.L. Mathewson $2.99

As long as she has plenty of hot cocoa, a pair of pliers on hand and is able to resist Connor O’Neil’s bad boy charm then Rory James should be able to make it through this project with her sanity intact. If not…..

She’d probably face a few more nights in jail, have a few more restraining orders slapped against her and lose her heart to the man that ruined her life.
