It's All In Your Mind by Ann Herrick

It's All In Your Mind by Ann Herrick

Book Description ~ Young Adult,Contemporary,Romance

17-year-old Vija Skalbe wants to be an all-American girl—no matter how hard her parents try to impose their strict Latvian standards on her. Then one day Nolan, a folksinger, steals her heart at a coffeehouse.

Soon Vija is cruising from one adventure to another, dizzy with joy, her new-found freedom and the excitement of being with the kind of guy who is a challenge.

However, when Vija's father has a heart attack, she must take over running the family lawn-care business. She feels overwhelmed until sweet brainiac Joel volunteers to help. He shares the workload and lifts her spirits with his humor. But it is Nolan who fills her heart.

It doesn't matter that Nolan wants everything his way. Or that he's constantly eyeing other girls. Or that he can be pouty and punitive. Or that he says she's seeing things all wrong. Until it does matter. But Vija's in so deep. The thing is, she likes the excitement of being with him. Now, she is about to find out just how much she likes it.

Brenda's Review

This was one of those .... Feel good books. It just made me happy to see how it all worked out in the end.

Vija ~ An average teen wanting an average teens life. You know the boyfriend, first kiss, first real love....typical.Her best friend invites her to a coffeehouse to hear a band and to sit and chat for awhile.Vija doesn't like coffee and her parents don't like coffeehouses. But she goes just because Caprice is her friend. That's where she meets Nolan. The folksinger. He intrigues her and soon sweeps her off her feet. Vija's a little to naive for Nolan and he knows it. He plays her to the hilt.
Nolan is bossy and turns his words to benefit him. When they go out to eat,he always orders for her, never asking her what she'd like. (This is where I feel her parents did her wrong by not teaching her to be her own person and learning what makes a good boyfriend.)

Vija's father has a heartattack,he has to take some time off of work.Vija is quick to stand in for him so he won't lose his lawn customers.(This is a plus for her parents, they have a least instilled family and work values in her.)Over the coarse of the few weeks she is workingher fathers job for him,Vija learns more in the values of true friends and true love.

Joel,a friend from school she has known for years, decides to help her out with the lawn care bussiness. As they work together and spend more time together, they both start to see a whole new side to each other. Joel is a hard worker and a great friend. He treats her with respect and loves spending time with her.

Nolan enters back into Vija's life and has a whole new plan for her....... Sorry, you will have to read this great story to get anymore from me :)
But let me just say this.....You will like this fun story! Well worth the read!!
