Cross Roads Blog Tour & Giveaway

I am so excited to be a part of the Crossroads Blog Tour! Below Mary Ting talks about how/why she wrote the Crossroads saga. I hope you enjoy the post and be sure to read to the end, the Giveaway is at the bottom of this post!

About Crossroads

I started writing Crossroads after my grandmother passed away. When these characters came to life in my mind, along with the character Gamma, inspired by my grandmother, it was a way for me to heal. I decided to start from a dream I had in high school, chapter one. Chapter two is also based on my dream as well. I didn’t think I would have much to write about, but when I made Claudia to be more like me, it was easy. Her first car, her first job, her first experience at camping and her grandmother having a stroke was all part of me. Too bad Michael wasn’t real…lol!!!
Many people like Davin, which I’m really happy about because his character was inspired by my friend who passed away. He was very likable and was a best friend to all his friends. Patty is my friend from church. She is exactly how I described her, social butterfly who knows everything about her friends and fashion. I named Claudia after a student I once had many years ago. I can still picture her face, just like an angel. When I was much younger, I had a crush on a boy name Michael, but his character is based off my husband, protective, romantic, and silly at times. No… he doesn’t have wings…lol!!!
Though I was busy with work, being a wife, a mother, and PTA president, I would always find time to write, even if that meant typing while I was cooking or brushing my teeth. Crossroads was written for a fast, fun reading with likable characters. Many have emailed me to let me know how Crossroads has helped them escaped from their everyday stress. Also, how they’ve connected to this book because of chapter one, having a loved one passed away. I took on a journey not knowing how rewarding it would be for me. I’ve meet so many wonderful people from all over the world through facebook, goodreads and blog sites. I’ve made everlasting friendship where friendship knows no boundaries. And I have to thank my grandmother who continues to watch over me from Heaven.

Claudia Emerson has a good friend who shares the same first name and last name. That friend unfortunately dies in a tragic accident during homecoming dance. Claudia is distraught at the loss of her friend, but is even more disturbed by her dreams, which seem to take her to another place called Crossroads. Unknown to her, Crossroads is like a second heaven, a place between heaven and earth. It is where the souls of humans in comas or near death experiences may wander. Where, Claudia meets Michael, a nephilim, a half angel, half human, whom she often meets in her dreams. It turns out that this isn’t her first visit to Crossroads, which is an enigma for no human can ever travel there until Claudia.

Now the fallen and demons are after her, suspecting she must be special and it is up to Michael and the other nephilims to protect her. Her dream becomes a nightmare as more secrets are revealed, about who she really is, and the true identities of the people she loves most. Can Michael fight his growing feelings for Claudia and protect her as a guardian angel should?

As the alkins head back to Crossroads, Claudia leads her normal life; but not for long. Having a special soul, Claudia attracts danger, and she soon finds out who Gamma asked to watch over her. The Twelve, known as Divine Elders on Earth, are very much involved when they find out that Aliah, one of the God's first angels, escaped from the Abyss when the gates were opened by Aden. Needing Claudia's soul to escape the only place Aliah can reside-a place between Heaven and Earth-he sends his demons in search of all Claudia Emersons on Earth. Taking her soul will enable him to be released from Between and cross over to Crossroads, which would give him immense power. As more secrets are revealed Claudia learns about the venators-nephilim, demon hunters. Now two opposing forces must work together in order to save Claudia and humanity from the most dangerous angel ever created. But along the way, trust becomes a big issue. Will love be enough to keep Claudia and Michael together? Who will make the ultimate sacrifice? Who will betray them all?

Torn between the past she can't remember and a future she isn’t ready for, Claudia feels at a loss. With unanswered questions, she is certain there is more to her past than just being a venator. Finding the missing pieces in her life won’t be easy because duty calls. When mysterious dark shadows get released, an apocalypse sets in motion. The venators and the alkins must work together once again. Knowing Claudia would be the key to destroying the demons that were released, a familiar stranger appears to protect her. Drawn to the beautiful angel, Claudia finds she must unravel the mysteries of her past in order to help save the world. Who is the angel assisting her and why does she feel a strong connection to him? Time is running out. Will she discover all the secrets before it’s too late?

**Disclaimer: This content is unedited and subject to change**

I awake and slowly blink the sleep out of my eyes. The sun is fading, casting dark shadows in the room. I turn my head to see I’m alone in the bed. Lying on my stomach, staring non-seeing into the room, I remember how exquisitely fucked I was just a few hours ago.

The feel of his hard body over me and his cock moving in and out of me, the sweat dripping off him as we both came. I feel myself get turned on all over again, and he isn’t even here touching me. Then I remember his muted words spoken right before I fell asleep.

“I want you to know I would have waited another sixteen years to be able to feel that with you again.”

I’m finding it hard to believe that Jacob could rescue me from the prison I’ve put myself in over the years, living the life of someone other than whom I feel I should be. Even if that is my true wish, wishes don’t always come true.

The hotel room door opens and Jacob walks in carrying a couple bottles of water from a vending machine, setting them on a side table. He looks yummy as he walks to the bed with a wide smile on his face. Sitting next to me on the edge of the bed, he bends down and kisses my shoulder and down my naked spine, stopping where the sheet lies just above my ass.

“Hey, sleepyhead.” He murmurs in between those drugging kisses. My legs start to stir beneath the sheet and I’m tempted to take another ride before I have to leave.

“Hi. If you keep doing that, you’re not going to be able to stop me from having my wicked way with you again and I need to leave soon.” I sigh with frustration.

“Maybe that’s exactly what I want.” Running a finger up and down my spine, he stretches out next to me.

“I’m sure it is, but I have stuff to get done before I’m back on the road in a few days. I warned you I didn’t have much time but I would do my best to make this work.”

“It feels like I just got you back, and now you have to go away again. I’d much rather see your beautiful face, instead of dreaming of it. Will you have time to sneak away again before you fly out?”

“I’m not sure. We’ll have to play it by ear. I don’t know how much I have to give you, Jacob. And I’m not just talking about my time either. I’ve been going down this lonely path for a while now and I’m not sure where it’s left me. Regardless of what we did today, I am still a married woman with commitments and responsibilities.” I hate bringing up this fact, but I need the reminder out there that this isn’t a fairytale. Its real life, and its messy.

He leans over and thoroughly kisses me before murmuring, “I know. And I’ll take whatever I can get with you. It’s better than having none of you.”

With that parting blow, he kisses me one last time, grabs his keys and heads out.

“Text me later, baby. I’ll be waiting.”

I sure hope I know what I’m doing, because it feels as though things are going to get extremely complicated.

Mac McManus has everything going for him, but he doesn’t see it that way. All he sees is his limitations. Like his father, Aaron, he is a vampire—forced into the darkness and to sustain himself on blood. He strikes a bargain with his aunt, the Queen, to get what he wants—an end to his suffering. In the bargain he must save a woman, his mate, from another vampire, Zachariah Roberts, a murdering fiend that has been plaguing Mac’s dreams since he turned. But the woman he must save, the one the Queen is making him save has turned out to be more than he bargained for. More than he ever wanted.
Brandi Daniel, Andi to her friends, has been on the run for years. Never staying in any one place long, she has managed to stay just one step ahead of her step-father—a cruel man with a nasty temper. Andi has a talent of her own. She can move things with her mind and her step-father thinks he can sell her to a science lab for a quick buck.
Andi is caught squatting on Bradley Wolf’s land and is given an ultimatum. She can work off the debt or spend a few days in jail. She figures she’ll make a quick buck and leave before her step-father finds her. She has learned to rely only on herself and isn’t bargaining for a gorgeous overbearing vampire, Mac, stepping in and dictating her every move. A man who can and will fulfill her every fantasy and desire...
Mac’s dreams of Zachariah have gotten worse and he knows that Andi is foretold to be one of his victims, but the danged woman won’t stay put. Brenda's Review

This story will shock you in so many ways. There are so many awesome characters in the story! It won't take you long to fall in love with them.

The story is exciting and packed full of action! There are some very intense moments and some very sweet moments.Plus a few bittersweet moments. I totally loved the banter between Renee and Dante in some parts. They had me laughing out loud and I know a few snorts slipped out. I loved it when Dante pushed Renee off the cliff. She was yelling at him and Dante says to her "Calm down prissy britches,I knew your instincts would kick in and you would land on your feet." Dante was proving to be my favorite character right there!!

Tristen was the other character introduced into Renee's life as a trainer. As was William and Devin. And they were hotties too! But then again she was surrounded by hotties! Lucky girl right there!! Things get a little more interesting when Tristen and Dante both claim to be her soul mate.It was hard for me to pick which one I wanted to win!

Over all I have to give this story a five star rating for the creativity and the lovly banter that the characters portrey. This is a must read!!

Review / Heaven Only Knows by David McLaren

Tony Bell is a hard-nosed police detective who takes early retirement to look after his newly born granddaughter, Ellie.

When she is abducted on her twelfth birthday and her body is found floating in the River Tyne, Tony gets angry, really angry.

He won’t rest until he brings her killer to justice.

David McLaren is also the author of Saving Starfish and Hotel Le Brambily

SAVING STARFISH is my first book. Set against the background of two world wars, it explores the universal themes of love, fear and heroism. Christian is a young SS officer, when he finds his love of his life in Auschwitz he faces the the ultimate challenge.

HOTEL LE BRAMBILY is a novel about found/lost and found again love. Phillip Joseph meets a ghost on the day JFK is killed. Can he find her again.

My Review:

I am excited to say that Heaven Only Knows is a must read.  David McLaren blew me away.  I'm a James Patterson fan and David's writing is right up there on the charts with Patterson with his crime/suspense.  I am thoroughly impressed and a new fan!

This story is told from both the grandfather's and the granddaughter's point of view.

Tony is a retired Detective and is helping his daughter raise her children now that her husband was killed in war.  Tony's granddaughter, Ellie, is abducted on her twelfth birthday.  Tony does everything he can to find her but when her body turns up in the river he puts everything he has into finding the one responsible.

Ellie's side of the story brought tears to my eyes.  As the mother of a ten year old daughter it broke my heart for her as she suffered and feared for her life.

Guest Post with Tiffany Carmouche

My name is Tiffany Carmouché and I am so excited to be here. What inspired my New Adult Romantic Suspense series? I think back to the day I decided to leave it all…

“Alaska? Who goes to Alaska?” Were my word when I heard I could make a lot more money as a waitress in a bar than being the Assistant manager of the local weight loss clinic I worked at. I had been made Assistant manager, wonderful title, but all it meant was I worked twice the amount of hours with not much more pay. “Alaska?” I let the question simmer in my mind until I found a friend crazy enough to make the journey with me. I really did think I was going to live in an igloo and have to be careful the polar bears wouldn’t attack us…but when we landed we soon found we had arrived in paradise!

Just like Nicole in the Impostor, A Love Story, I traveled to Alaska, trying to escape an unhealthy relationship; I arrived in a place where the ratio of men to women was in my favor. The men were like southern gentleman but as far north as you could go! Snow Machining, Sky Diving and learning to fly were a few of my adventures in this magical place.

In Anchorage, the bars, the city, the men kept night life fun and when you needed a break, the mountains were only a short drive away. I loved getting off work and hitting the ski slopes although I have to admit, I pretty much snow plowed most of the way! The cliffs were a little intimidating. I remember before I had learned to ski, I thought I would take the ski lift to the top of the mountain so I could get an awesome picture of the set setting over the mountain range.

“What do you mean I can’t ride the thingie down?” I argued with the guy helping the people off the lift.

“You have to ski down ma’am?” The stupid boy tried to explain.

“I don’t ski!” I looked down the huge slope of the black diamond trail and knew it was suicide in the making!

From out of the crowd, my hero appeared, with his cape flapping in the wind. Okay so there was no cape but I swear I heard the heavens sing! “I’ll ski you down.”

“What?”

“Yea, you can just get on my skis and I’ll ski you down the slope.” I am telling you, the men were amazing! So I stood in front of him on his skis and we flew down the mountain as the sunset.—true story!

The Alaska Series has been fun to write because not only have I been able to relive some of my amazing experiences, my characters have come alive off the keyboard and it has been fun taking the voyage with them! The Impostor began as my experience with my best friend Julie, to find ourselves…as we disappeared and before long I had three books mapped out. Now my muse has me aching to write the fourth as well.

The Impostor came out in October and Obsession and Sacrifice came out in February and I must say that this has been just as exciting as jumping out of a plane, from 10,000 feet off the ground! I hope you take this journey with me.

Here is some of the feedback I have gotten from Obsession and Sacrifice

“…A riveting story that tugged at my heart…”  Kristina Snyder “It simply blew me away.”

“…An intense follow-up to The Imposter.”  Becky Johnson, Australia “… Passionate, romance fueled adventure.”  Becky Johnson, Australia

“…Suspense, love and sleepless nights.” Samantha Truedale, USA

“…A crazy thrill ride and I never want to get off.”  Justine Vandale, USA “…It's fast- paced and heart pounding. It was such a rush!”

“…Outstanding romance, intrigue, suspense & action.”  Nicki Wilson, UK

“Intrigue, Deception, Romance and the beauty of the rugged Alaskan landscape…are the settings for Tiffany Carmouche’s masterpiece of writing.” ~Theresa Stuart, California

“Awaiting breathlessly, for number three. I don’t want the story to end.  Tiffany Carmouché please say there will be more…..” Liz DiMaggio, New Orleans

“A journey unraveling old family secrets, and keeping one step ahead of a sociopathic killer, out to destroy them all.” ~Theresa Stuart, California

Review:

“Wow - what an amazing job Tiffany has done. There wasn't a moment that I wasn't engaged with the characters or the plot. The build up of mystery and tension in this suspenseful romantic novel is superbly done. I found myself constantly holding my breath and nervously listening for creaks in the house. There were some beautifully crafted romantic moments that had me swooning for Dylan, and several moments when I shed a tear. Stunning! The novel flowed very well, effectively creating a good balance of suspense, character interaction and the lovely romance. The ending. Oh my! Tiffany, what an ending you have created. I have no idea what to expect for book two, Obsession and Sacrifice, other than I can not wait to read it. And no doubt it will be as wonderful as The Impostor.” -Becky Johnson, Bex and Books

Review:

ARC (Advanced Readers Copy)
Excellent! - Obsession & Sacrifice is here & it did not disappoint! The second of the trilogy gives you a tiny re-cap of the last chapter from the ‘The Impostor’ & sets the atmosphere ready for the roller-coaster of a read that awaits you! Once again the authors’ descriptive writing connects you right at the heart of the outstanding romance, intrigue, suspense & action. Yet again, Tiffany has written another book that I just couldn’t put down. There are so many different aspects to this book & the author has succeeded in making every chapter progress & flow at an exhilarating pace. Overall it’s a 10/10 from me & I’m here pacing the floor again, ready for the book. –Nicki Wilson

Some projects of mine.

I am Bringing teens to Puerto Rico to serve the less fortunate.

I have two projects I am working on right now besides my Alaska Series. I would love your help. (Either in the projects or in spreading the word about them)

One of my passions is service. For over 10 years I have tried to take some of my vacation time to make a difference to people in need. I love to take teens to let them experience serving the marginalized and opening their eyes to different cultures. I am doing an auction to help raise money for the teenagers to be able to go. If any Authors or Bloggers be interested in donating anything for it OR HELPING GET THE WORD OUT, that would be wonderful. Email or PM me :) Thank you! We will be going to volunteer at Casa Julia-a home for abused woman and Children and Estancia Corazon, Inc. homeless outreach community.

Out of the Shadows is another project I am working on. As some of you know, I, like Nicole in The Alaska Series, escaped an abusive relationship to begin again.

I NEED YOU! I am looking for people who have been through a physically, or mentally abusive relationship and survived. The book will be compiled of our stories. I feel if we can give even one person the courage to leave and break free of the cycle of abuse, we will have succeeded.

If you or anyone you know would like to be a part of this project, please contact me at tiffanycarmouche@ymail.com
I will be accepting submissions through April. (You can remain anonymous if needed)
Submissions can be:
*Poetry
*A chapter ~Your story (A paragraph -5 pages)
*Quotes from you on hope or overcoming obstacles
*Pictures, photography or drawings (black and white)
*Submissions can be from an adult or child’s point of view
*If you would prefer interview questions, I can send them instead/as well.

Out of the Shadows will be used to give hope to people who are afraid to leave or have begun their journey out of the shadows and into the light. All the money will go to help provide service to victims of abuse.

I want to say one last thing to my Readers

I want to say thank you! I could not do this without you. I love to hear from you. You have no idea how much it means to hear your feedback on my books. I can’t believe I have fans all over the world. Thank you for reading the books, for recommending them and spreading the word about them, for reviewing them, for sharing my post, for the awesome graphics and videos you have made…for everything! I really can’t do this without you. I don’t have a big publishing company behind me pushing my books. It is all word of mouth. You are truly treasured! Please keep in touch. I love hearing from you!

Stalk me in a good way…no serial killer’s please J

BIO:

When Tiffany Carmouché is not writing romance novels, you can find her sculpting, traveling, teaching, singing, dancing, escaping in music or enjoying her family.

From skydiving in Alaska to scuba diving in Hawaii, Carmouché has traveled the worlds seeking adventure. These include riding camels in Africa, swimming under the stars in Puerto Rico, dancing salsa in Ecuador, and walking the cobblestone roads of Assisi, Italy. She has found fulfillment working with the disabled and orphans in Argentina, and Mexico. Her most cherished moments, however, have been watching her two beautiful daughters grow and strive to accomplish their own dreams.

Despite all of these amazing experiences, she has survived many struggles. There was a time she felt defeated, but now she is recommitted to savoring experiences both in the novels she writes and in the life she lives each day. Her secret hope is that anyone who is struggling will realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel and no matter how hard the fight, no matter how many times they have been knocked down, it is always worth staggering up to their feet and learning to breathe again.
