Code of Honor (Code #2) by J.R. Bryce ~ Release Blitz

Title: Code of Honor
Series: Code #2
Author: J.R. Bryce
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance/Former Military
Published: November 30, 2015
Mark Williams is a former Marine who needs a temporary, just for show bodyguard simply to ease his father's mind. He hires Julie Jameson, a beautiful young woman who looks nothing like a bodyguard even though her resume indicates she’s tough as nails. She's the perfect candidate. but he's got a few demands of his own. First on that list: he can take his own damn bullets.

Julie doesn’t like being told she was hired because of her looks, or that she isn't allowed to do her job. She is not just an overpriced escort with a gun, she’s good at what she does. Except as things heat up and it becomes obvious to both of them that the threat is real, Mark treats her more like part of the team despite his obvious desire to protect her. And he never treats her as an escort, despite the fact that she really starts regretting that particular clause in the contract.

Together they face explosions, flying bullets, injuries and judgement, all the while dealing with a safehouse full of her brothers, multiple government agencies trying to work together, old friends and older secrets.

The only thing either of them is sure about is that if they both survive, they aren’t letting go. All they have to do is make sure that happens.

JR Bryce (that's me) has been writing since I could read, with varying levels of success. Some of those early stories were not the bestsellers I hoped for at age six, but I've gotten better over time. Really. I promise.

I live in my office corner with a man-eating Chihuahua draped across my lap, my real live Evil Muse mind-controlling me via electronic communication, and writing like a crazy person while my all-too-precocious spawnlings plot each other’s murders and my husband runs away in a vain attempt to save his sanity. Fortunately, the beautiful Oregon Coast has lots of things to distract him so I can get the words on paper.

 Excerpt:
He looked over at me, annoyance on his features. "Last time you had sex with a woman?" he demanded.
I spluttered "Gramps! You want me to tell you the last time I was with a woman?" I asked incredulously.
"I'm not interested in the last time you gave your wrist a work out!" He deadpanned, and I barked out a laugh at him,
"Jesus, Gramps! Can't you be like other old men?!" I shook my head at him but he still looked at me, waiting.
"Bloody hell" I cursed, cringing knowing that he wouldn’t let the conversation go.
"I dunno why you feel the need to know, 6 days ago. Satisfied?"
He fixed me with a stare. "You trying to be funny, boy? I've not been satisfied for nearly two weeks. I'm a grown man who fought for his bloody country, and if I want..."
I interrupted his rant. "Wait! How'd you get it two weeks ago?" I looked at him puzzled, and a slow grin spread over his face.
"Betty stays here quite regularly, boy. We were just unlucky last night, in that the silly old witch next door fell over."

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Emily had a goal when she was 15, she would have a daughter named Marquel and write a novel titled "Marquel." She accomplished both and more.
Emily was a protege of the late master of the pulps or paperback originals, Harry Whittington. Emily interviewed Whittington during her days as a feature writer for the Clearwater Sun daily newspaper and its weekly division. They became friends and he taught her how to plot and gave her approval of the original outline and sample chapter for "Marquel" shortly before he died in 1989.
After Whittington passed away, Emily challenged herself to write as her mentor did and wrote a chapter a day and finished the novel "Marquel" in 52 days. For more details on the novel's history read: http://www.thefilmmom.blogspot.com/2012/10/why-book-trailer-now.html
Fast forward, a second daughter, Blair is born and Emily and husband Tom focus on raising their family. Both daughters are now grown and work in Hollywood. So this might be an example of art imitating life or the reverse?
A devoted Catholic, Emily is rekindling her love for writing and has just completed the movie script for "Marquel" and a young adult paranormal appropriately named after her youngest child, "St. Blair: Children of the Night."
When Emily isn't working as a marketing consultant or writing, she enjoys antiquing/thrifting and producing short films. If he screws this up Abby loses the kid and Flynn loses his chance to get into his sexy neighbor's bed. He’s never backed away from a challenge—on the field or off. He can be good for one damn week…maybe…hopefully…

Brenda's Review

Humorous, witty and down right fun to read. There are moments of laughter and moments of OMG no..... That's what makes it fun.

Flynn Boyle is a footballer,well... was one. His resent leg injury has put a stop to that. Now he has to figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. And his new neighbor is looking like a good place to start.
Flynn encounters Abby's daughter, known as the terrorist in Flynn's eyes.Katy is a force to be reckoned with. Her character is bold, funny and conniving. Katy and Flynn have a love hate relationship at first. They start to grow on each other as time goes on.

Abby is dealing with a lot in her life. From losing her husband at a young age,to raising her daughter the best she knows how. Not having the family backing that a women needs. Her so called mother has thrown her to the curb. She was cut off from the family and money as soon as decided to marry her husband. He was not to the family standard according to her parents.

There is so much to this story,I don't want to go into it all..... That would be a total spoiler. So I will just say this.... Read this!! There is shocker in this story that will having you saying ...What?? OMG....

I really enjoyed this story, it's got a lot meat to it. It feeds every part of your hunger in the story telling department.

I'm an "Indie" Adult Contemporary Romance author. I've been married to my wonderful husband since 1996 and I love being a stay-at-home mom to our two teenage boys. I was born and raised in Michigan, but currently live in beautiful California.

A thought occurred to me in December of 2012 that maybe I could write a romance novel. So, I went to work with the encouragement of my husband and sister-in-law. It didn’t take long to figure out that I absolutely love writing.

Today I’m a self-published author and it has been an amazing journey. I published my debut novel Take A Chance in October of 2013.
